DUE TO THE COVID-19 SITUATION, ALL SHARK PUPS SESSIONS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE 2020 SEASON.

Shark Pups is our junior swim team!  Designed for swimmers ages 4-6, the Shark Pups team will provide an introduction to summer swim team in an upbeat, more intimate, and less competitive environment.  Swimmers will be introduced to competition strokes, diving (for those who are ready), and other important swim team skills such as listening and respect.  There will be four 3-week sessions available, in April, May, June, and July, with multiple time groups in each session to maintain a lower coach to swimmer ratio (no more than 10 swimmers per time group).  The June and July sessions will each conclude with a Mini Meet – a fun opportunity for our Shark Pups to show off their new skills, learn about racing, and enjoy a little friendly competition.

We have a new Head Coach - Eric Mongerson! Coach Eric is a swim instructor at Georgia Tech - read more of his bio here.  Coach Steph will also be back this season to assist as her schedule permits.

In the interest of safety, all swimmers must have a basic comfort level in the water as well as a general ability to stay afloat and move through the water with limited assistance.  This is not a program for absolute beginners or children who are afraid of the water since one-on-one moments with instructors will be limited by the group nature of the program.  Swimmers must be comfortable with putting their face in the water.  Shark Pups practices will primarily take place in the shallow end of the pool, with some deep end lane swimming as the swimmers are ready.

Swimmers in Session 1 will be allowed to join the Cool Sharks at the end of their session IF they are ready and can pass a Cool Sharks evaluation (click here for more information) and if they will be 5 years old by May 31st.  All other Shark Pups swimmers will not be allowed to move up to the Cool Sharks mid-season, however all Shark Pups will be encouraged to join the Cool Sharks fall team this year or the summer team next year if they are ready!

Registration:

  • 3/1 for Session 1 until groups are full (maximum 10 swimmers per group)

  • 3/15 for Sessions 2, 3, 4 until groups are full (maximum 10 swimmers per group)

  • Swimmers will register for and attend a specific session(s) and a specific time group.

  • Register early to get your first choice!

  • Swimmers can register for more than one session.

  • When groups are full, a wait list will be started through the online registration system (see below).

  • Swimmers do not need to be a member of the Garden Hills pool in order to participate.

Fees:

  • $150 per session per swimmer (Mon-Thurs groups)

  • $125 per session per swimmer (Sat-Sun groups)

Wait List:

If you would like to join the wait list, please register as usual for the group(s) you would like.  Your name will be added to the wait list in the order in which you register.  Payment information will be collected, but your card will not be charged until you are placed an opening.  You may register for the wait list for more than one group and we recommend doing so for any time group you would be willing to accept in order to increase your chances of an opening (your card will only be charged for the group in which you are placed, and you will not be placed in more than one group per session).  If you register for the wait list and would later like your name removed (which you may do without penalty at any time before being placed in an opening), please email your request to coolsharks@gardenhillspool.com.  Once your child has been placed in an opening and your card has been charged, you will be subject to the refund policy below.

Refunds:

  • Partial refunds of $100 will be given through the first day of practice.

  • Partial refunds of $100 will be given to any swimmer who is placed in an open spot from the wait list but later declines that spot (through the first day of practice, or within 24 hours if the session has already begun).

  • Full refunds will be given to any swimmer who is determined by the coach to not yet be ready for the program, or to any swimmer registered for sessions 2, 3, or 4 who transfers to the Cool Sharks by 4/18 (after passing a new swimmer evaluation).

  • No refunds will be given after the first day of practice.

REVISED:  Due to the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season, full refunds will be given to any swimmer for any reason until the program begins. Refunds may be available after the first day of practice on a case-by-case basis.
